Massage tips: general stuff to help you have a better session!

Massage Tips;

* Always plan ahead for your session. It's best to book a session a few weeks in advance. Sometimes I try my best to fit newcomers in to the schedule, but generally speaking, if you like the therapists' work, and massage is something you may invest in regularly, try to formulate a wellness plan for yourself, and think ahead. It takes a lot of preparation time to do a good session.

I frequently get last minute calls for, say, friday nights or weekends. Sorry folks, sometimes I'm hanging out with friends, playing music, or standing in a river somewhere.

*show up on time, a few minutes early even better. If you show up late, you end up getting massaged by a stressed out therapist who has been worrying about you.

If you are stuck in traffic, pick up your cell phone and call us. we're generally cool with that.

*shut off your cell phone when you come in, please. :)

*Bathe before you come. Unscented soaps, no heavy perfumes, please. You would be amazed at the energetic transfer that is carried in perfume, particularly stale perfume/cologne that has been worn all day.

Take a salt bath, this helps a lot.

Try to start a little extra hydration at least 24 hours before a session. Eat lightly.

A few more massage tips:

Tell the therapist if you have any special needs, bolsters, blankets, etc. Room temp, air circulation, allergies, etc.

Be up front about all the info on the confidential intake form. It's for your own health and safety.

If you are feeling like you want a nice quiet session, just tell the therapist. Sometimes clients can get talking, but on other days, they may want some quiet time.

Just tell the therapist this. Sometimes they might assume you're in "chat mode" the next time you come, this may not be the case. Remember, the time is all yours!

Massage tips for rebooking:

A lot of times, I just let my regulars leave, and I send them an email suggesting a good day/time to return. This eliminates the hassle of having to fumble with palm pilots and calendars right after the session. they can just go home and crash. We'll deal with the calendar thing tomorrow, when you're not all groggy.

I think sometimes it makes the day go a bit easier. If I generally know what week you will be coming, I can adjust to fit you in.

Massage tips for leaving a tip: Tips are not "required" here. I've chatted with some LMT's who get upset and insulted if the client doesn't leave a tip.

I have clients who tip really well, and ones who don't tip at all. But I love them all, they're great people. I look at it this way: If you really enjoyed the work, sure, leave a tip, as long as the exchange comes from a gentle heart I will honor it, thanks.
