When you rebalance yourself with Wellness Massage at Hartford Massage Therapy.... There may be times when you may not need any specific area worked on, and are just feeling in need of relaxation and rebalancing.

Many clients may begin a program of deep tissue work, but after a period of time, the trigger points (areas of specific tension) will subside, and the body may just need a "tune up" or "maintenance" at whatever interval the client needs.

Some clients come weekly, bi-weekly, some monthly, quarterly, and some come once in awhile as an indulgence. Whatever works for you is fine!

The best modality for general wellness is Classic Swedish Massage, which is the most popular at spas, resorts, etc., and for good reason. When you have had a really good Swedish Massage, you will feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and you will sleep very deeply.

Swedish work has also been known to help the circulatory system, the immune system, and even help with general muscle tone and flexibility. It is also wonderful for sore, tired, achy muscles. It has also been noted to help with increasing Serotonin levels in the brain. (serotonin itself is a powerful pain buffer).

Getting regular massages helps with Fibromyalgia, depression, Arthritis, and many other common ailments. Swedish is characterized by long, gliding strokes (effleurage) and maybe some deeper "kneading" (Petrissage). It works best with a quiet atmosphere, and gentle music.

Stress is the key factor in postural problems, chronic muscle tension, and chronic pain. Massage will help you get back in touch with your body, and the emotional "mind-body" connection as well.

Often, Hartford Massage Therapy clients will want to go home and just take a hot bath or a nap. I suggest budgeting some "me time" before and after the session to get in what one of my clients calls "the zone!"

It's also a very good idea to hydrate well before and after the session. Eat a light meal beforehand also.

Please refer to the site's navigation button "draping" on the general aspects of what to expect during this session. At this time, Massage is not covered by insurance, but consider getting a massage regularly if you are undergoing physical therapy or Chiropractic for an injury. Hartford Massage Therapy is a great adjunct to these modalities!
