Hartford Massage Therapy: a better way to do deep tissue massage

Deep Tissue at Hartford Massage Therapy:

What is "Deep Tissue Massage Therapy, as opposed to other types of massage? Basically, deep tissue work involves working the muscles at a greater depth, generally using a bit more pressure with either the hands, or elbows.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy is beneficial for working out areas of specific need. A common example is the junction where the shoulder meets the bottom of the neck. Many people have a lot of tension in this area. This is a fairly complex area, and posturally speaking, there is a lot of interaction between many groups of muscles.

A good Deep Tissue Massage will release a lot of this tension, help improve posture, and bring the body back to a more normal state. This is not an immediate process, expectations and goals should be realistic. It usually takes years to get a body into a state of chronic pain, so please do not expect miracle cures. This can take time.

There is a certain level of what I call "therapeutic sensation", which is really a level below actual pain, when the massage is being performed. The sensation is enough to know that the muscle is being worked on, but it is tolerable to the client.

I believe that when I work on someone, I have to be patient with muscles, they take time to release from their chronic state of tension. A compressive technique works well here.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy work is actually done gently and gradually, without excessive force. You cannot force your way into a muscle, because it will just resist.

The proper way to do Deep Tissue massage is to sink in slowly, working with the clients' direction and feedback.

Hartford Massage Therapy Deep Tissue massage is beneficial for many conditions, such as "frozen shoulder", Fibromyalgia, Back pain, neck pain, some types of leg and foot pain, Tension headache pain, TMJ (tempero mandibular jaw syndrome), and other conditions.

Oftentimes, when areas of the body are in chronic tension, this becomes almost "normal" to feel this pain on a daily basis. Many of my clients have commented, "I just learned to live with it".

The good news is, it doesn't have to be that way! Again, It usually takes a few sessions to begin to feel better. Be sure to tell me all about your condition before the session. I also have some great ideas for therapies you can do right at home to compliment this type of massage work. This is the type of massage I do most frequently at Hartford Massage Therapy, but as clients begin to heal, they usually need less deep tissue work.
